While our mentors support young people in achieving their personal goals, our tutors focus on educational development. This helps young people maintain their learning, develop essential academic skills and build the confidence needed to successfully reintegrate into education.

1. Working Alongside Schools

We work closely with schools to understand each young person’s current educational attainment, learning needs and future goals. Through discussions with school staff, we can identify gaps in learning, priority subjects and any examinations or qualifications the young person is working towards. This ensures educational support is meaningful, relevant and aligned with their existing curriculum.

2. Flexible Educational Support

Where educational support is required, we can incorporate sessions with approved tutors into a young person’s wider mentoring programme. This could include maintaining academic progress, developing subject knowledge, preparing for GCSE examinations or working towards other educational achievements. Sessions are tailored to the young person’s abilities, needs and educational aspirations.

3. Learning Beyond the Classroom

Education is only one part of our approach. Following educational sessions, young people can continue working with their mentor through engaging, practical activities that develop confidence, social skills and independence. From budgeting and cooking to community activities and problem-solving, we believe everyday experiences provide valuable opportunities for learning. Where available, achievements may also be recognised through schemes such as the AQA Unit Award Scheme.

4. Supporting Educational Reintegration

For young people who have become disengaged from education, our combined approach aims to maintain learning while addressing the barriers preventing school attendance. By working collaboratively with schools, families and young people, we can support educational progress, rebuild positive learning routines and help prepare young people for a gradual, successful return to education.
